inZOI Sells 1 Million Copies in Week, Krafton Eyes Long-Term Franchise
inZOI, the latest life simulation game from Krafton, has achieved a remarkable feat by selling 1 million copies within just one week of its Early Access launch on Steam. This milestone marks the fastest sales record for any game published by the South Korean giant. Launched on March 28, inZOI quickly became a topic of discussion, especially after players found they could run over and kill children in the game. Krafton swiftly addressed this issue, labeling it an "unintended bug" and promptly patching it out.
Despite this early controversy, inZOI has garnered a 'very positive' user review rating on Steam. It also saw an impressive peak of 175,000 concurrent viewers on Twitch, securing the third spot in the Games category. Just 40 minutes after its release, inZOI soared to the top of Steam’s Global Top Sellers List, based on sales revenue.
The game's in-game user-generated content platform, Canvas, experienced significant engagement, with over 1.2 million participants on launch day and more than 470,000 pieces of content uploaded. This level of engagement highlights the community's enthusiasm and creativity within inZOI.
IGN's review of inZOI's Early Access version scored it a 6/10, noting, "inZOI is a visually striking life simulator with plenty of ambition, but not enough depth as of its Early Access launch." Despite this critique, the game's success speaks volumes about its appeal and Krafton's effective pre-launch marketing and community engagement strategies. The company highlighted the inZOI global showcase and demo build as particularly instrumental in generating high interest.
CEO CH Kim expressed gratitude and excitement about presenting inZOI to a global audience through Early Access, emphasizing the company's commitment to ongoing communication with players and nurturing inZOI as a long-term franchise IP.

Looking ahead, Krafton has promised to introduce new content through future updates, including mod support and new cities, with all updates and DLC being provided for free until the game's full release. In response to player feedback, Krafton has committed to applying quick fixes for reported issues through hotfixes during April. The company acknowledged the scale of inZOI’s global community as a "next-level experience" and admitted to navigating some challenges in finding the optimal means of communication with its players.
