Monster Hunter Wilds GPU Requirements May Lower as Capcom Tries to Optimize Game
Monster Hunter Wilds: Capcom Aims to Optimize Performance and Lower GPU Requirements
Capcom is actively working to enhance the performance of Monster Hunter Wilds before its official release, with a particular focus on reducing the game's GPU requirements for PC players. This follows feedback from the initial beta test.
Addressing Performance Concerns:
A recent announcement on the German Monster Hunter Twitter (X) account highlighted improvements. A video showcased smoother gameplay on PS5, utilizing an updated "Prioritize Framerate" mode that boosts fps at the expense of some visual detail. Capcom confirmed similar optimizations are underway for the PC version, specifically targeting a reduction in the recommended GPU requirements.
Currently, the minimum GPU requirements are an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super or AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT. Success in lowering these requirements would significantly broaden the game's accessibility to players with less powerful hardware.
Furthermore, Capcom plans to release a free benchmarking tool to help players assess their system's compatibility.
Lessons Learned from the First Beta:
The initial open beta test (October/November 2024) revealed performance issues, including low-poly character models and frame rate drops, even on high-end PCs. While some players found workarounds, these often compromised visual quality.
Capcom acknowledged these issues, stating that improvements have been made since the beta, addressing problems such as afterimage noise.
A second open beta test (February 7-10 and 14-17, 2025) is scheduled for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam, featuring new monsters. Whether these performance enhancements will be fully implemented in this beta remains to be seen. However, Capcom's commitment to optimization suggests a smoother launch experience is likely.
