Saber Interactive is addressing player concerns over the recent nerfs introduced in Space Marine 2's Patch 4.0. A hotfix, Patch 4.1, launching October 24th, will revert the most significant balance changes. This decision follows considerable negative feedback from the community, including negative Steam reviews.

Game director Dmitriy Grigorenko acknowledged the community's response, stating that the team is reverting the "most pressing" balance adjustments. The initial goal of Patch 4.0 was to increase enemy numbers, but this inadvertently impacted lower difficulty levels. To prevent similar issues in the future, Saber Interactive announced plans to implement public test servers around early 2025.

The upcoming Patch 4.1 will specifically address several key issues:

  • Extremis Enemy Spawns: Spawn rates will be reduced to pre-Patch 4.0 levels on Minimal, Average, and Substantial difficulties, and significantly reduced on Ruthless.

  • Player Armor (Ruthless Difficulty): Increased by 10%.

  • Bot Damage (Bosses): Increased by 30%.

  • Bolt Weapon Buff: A comprehensive buff to the entire Bolt weapon family, addressing their previous underperformance across all difficulty levels. Specific damage increases include:

    • Auto Bolt Rifle: +20%
    • Bolt Rifle: +10%
    • Heavy Bolt Rifle: +15%
    • Stalker Bolt Rifle: +10%
    • Marksman Bolt Carbine: +10%
    • Instigator Bolt Carbine: +10%
    • Bolt Sniper Rifle: +12.5%
    • Bolt Carbine: +15%
    • Occulus Bolt Carbine: +15%
    • Heavy Bolter: +5% (x2)

Grigorenko confirmed that the team will continue monitoring player feedback post-Patch 4.1 to ensure the "Lethal" difficulty remains appropriately challenging and rewarding. The introduction of public test servers should further aid in future balance adjustments.
