Larian Reveals Exciting New Subclasses for Baldur's Gate 3

While many fans believed that Patch 7 would mark the final major update for Baldur's Gate 3, Larian Studios has exciting news: another substantial update is on the horizon, scheduled for release in 2025. This update promises to enhance the gaming experience with crossplay support, a photo mode, and the introduction of 12 new subclasses, each offering unique mechanics to enrich gameplay.

Details about four of these subclasses have been revealed, and now we're delving into the remaining ones: Oath of the Crown Paladin, Arcane Archer, Drunken Master Monk, and Swarmkeeper Ranger.

Oath of the Crown Paladin

The Oath of the Crown Paladin is dedicated to upholding justice and maintaining order, prioritizing the welfare of society above all else. This subclass is equipped with the Divine Devotion ability, which not only absorbs incoming damage directed at allies but also restores their health, making it a vital asset in any party.

Arcane Archer

The Arcane Archer is a fascinating blend of martial skill and arcane magic. Their enchanted arrows have the power to blind, weaken, or even temporarily exile enemies to the Feywild until the next turn. Moreover, should an arrow miss its intended target, the Arcane Archer can cleverly adjust its trajectory to hit another foe, ensuring no shot goes to waste.

Drunken Master Monk

The Drunken Master Monk integrates alcohol into their combat strategy, using it to enhance their fighting techniques. Their signature move intoxicates opponents, causing disorientation while simultaneously boosting the monk's own abilities. The use of Instant Sobriety on an intoxicated target inflicts both physical and mental damage, making this subclass a unique and powerful choice.

Swarmkeeper Ranger

The Swarmkeeper Ranger forms symbiotic alliances with swarms of creatures, harnessing the power of nature to their advantage. These swarms not only shield the ranger from harm but also aid in teleportation. In combat, the ranger can deploy three distinct types of swarms: electric jellyfish clusters that deliver shocks, blinding moth clouds that obscure vision, and stinging bee legions capable of knocking back enemies who fail a strength check by 4.5 meters.
