Indus picks up five million downloads and concludes first international playtest in Manila

by Jason Jan 04,2025

Indus, the Indian-made battle royale shooter, has achieved a remarkable milestone: over five million Android downloads and 100,000 iOS downloads within just two months of its release. This success follows a triumphant international playtest in Manila and a prestigious Google Play Award win for "Best Made in India Game 2024."

This surge in popularity is a significant achievement for Indus, especially considering SuperGaming's ambitious goal to establish it as a leading force in Indian gaming, surpassing competitors like FAU-G: Domination. The Manila YGG Play Summit provided a crucial international playtest, allowing prominent esports athletes to experience the game firsthand.

Further fueling its growth, SuperGaming launched the Clutch India Movement, a major esports initiative spearheaded by the Indus International Tournament. Running from October 2024 to February 2025, this tournament boasts a substantial INR 2.5 crore prize pool (approximately $31,000 USD).

Impressive Growth, Future Potential

While the five million downloads are impressive, they fall slightly short of the initial ten million pre-registrations. However, it's important to remember that pre-registration numbers often don't fully translate into actual downloads. The relatively low iOS download count also suggests a need to further penetrate that market segment.

Despite this, Indus's rapid growth is undeniable. SuperGaming's proactive approach, including early international playtests and a dedicated esports tournament, showcases their ambitious vision for the game's future.
