Sharp Fang Farming Guide in Monster Hunter Wilds

by Riley Apr 28,2025

In *Monster Hunter Wilds*, Sharp Fangs are essential crafting resources that you'll encounter early in your adventure, particularly in the Windward Plains. These fangs are crucial for forging beginner-tier gear sets like Chatacabra and Talioth armor, enhancing your early-game experience.

To start your hunt for Sharp Fangs, embark on one of the initial optional quests such as "Beware the Chatacabra" or "The Desert is Demanding." These quests will lead you to the Windward Plains, where you'll have a generous 50-minute time limit to explore. Don't forget to prepare by cooking and eating a meal before setting out, as it can boost your performance.

Gaijos

In the Windward Plains, head east to Area 8, a vast region teeming with smaller monsters. Your primary target for Sharp Fangs should be the Gaijos, small leviathan monsters resembling crocodiles with unique snouts. You'll find them near riverbeds or swimming in them, often alone. Use the interactive map to locate them by looking for purple diamonds near water sources.

Engage the Gaijos with your weapon of choice; they're relatively easy to defeat due to their low health. Once you've taken one down, carve its carcass to obtain 1 x Sharp Fang. Gaijos are a guaranteed source of Sharp Fangs, making them a priority. With four to five Gaijos typically available in the Windward Plains, you can repeatedly enter the region via optional quests to farm more fangs as needed.

Another monster in the Windward Plains that can drop Sharp Fangs is the Talioth. These bipedal creatures roam in small packs, primarily in Area 8 and occasionally in Area 13. While they're slightly tougher than Gaijos, they're still manageable with starter weapons.

Carving Talioth carcasses might yield Sharp Fangs, though it's not guaranteed. You may also receive other items like Talioth Scales. Additionally, hunting Talioths can help you complete the "The Desert is Demanding" quest, which requires you to kill 8 Talioths.
