Jason Momoa Hints at Lobo's Role in Supergirl Film: 'Looks Spot On'

Jason Momoa's portrayal of the iconic DC character Lobo is set to debut in the 2026 DC Universe film, *Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow*. Known for his role as Aquaman in the now-defunct DC Extended Universe (DCEU), Momoa will bring his favorite comic book character to life in the rebooted DC Universe (DCU). Lobo, an alien interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter with superhuman strength and immortality, hails from the now-destroyed planet Czarnia. Created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, Lobo first appeared in *Omega Men #3* in 1983 and shares the tragic distinction with Superman as the last survivor of his home world.

Momoa, who has long expressed his desire to play Lobo due to the aesthetic similarities between himself and the character, recently shared insights on his role with ScreenRant. He hinted that fans will get a good but brief look at Lobo in *Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow*. "Well, this is the role I've always wanted to play," Momoa stated. "That’s the comic I loved, so I'm really nervous about it. It’s kind of a no-brainer to play this character. It's pretty big. I don't want to give away too much, but I mean, we look pretty dead on, exactly like the character, and he’s pretty rough and gruff and… I'll say the bike’s really cool."

When asked about the extent of Lobo's screen time, Momoa clarified, "It’s her movie, so it's great. I just come in for a little bit."

In January, DC co-chief James Gunn shared the first image of Milly Alcock as Supergirl on Bluesky, announcing the start of filming for *Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow*. The film draws heavily from the graphic novel of the same name by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Norgueira. It follows the standalone story of an alien girl, Ruthye Marye Knoll, who recruits Supergirl to avenge her father's murder by the villain Krem of the Yellow Hills.

The cast of *Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow* also includes Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem, Eve Ridley as Ruthye, David Krumholtz as Supergirl's father Zor-El, and Emily Beecham as Supergirl's mother. The film is slated for release in June 2026, following James Gunn's *Superman* which premieres this summer. The DCU will continue to expand with the *Clayface* movie scheduled for September 2026.

From Aquaman to Lobo, Jason Momoa is crossing DC universes.
