The hitbox in Marvel Rivals is controversial

A recent hot topic on the game's Reddit is the demonstrably flawed hitboxes in *Marvel Rivals*. Videos show Spider-Man landing hits on Luna Snow from several meters away, a clear indication of inaccurate collision detection. Other instances show shots seemingly missing their mark yet still registering as hits. While some attribute this to lag compensation, the core issue appears to be fundamentally broken hitbox geometry.

Professional players have highlighted consistent inconsistencies. Aiming slightly right of the crosshair consistently results in hits, while aiming left frequently fails to register, showcasing a significant directional bias in the hit detection system. This, coupled with the examples of wildly inaccurate hitboxes across multiple characters, points to a serious problem requiring immediate attention.

Despite this, *Marvel Rivals*, often dubbed the "Overwatch killer," has enjoyed a remarkably successful launch on Steam. On its first day, the game boasted over 444,000 concurrent players—a number comparable to the population of Miami. While optimization issues, particularly noticeable on cards like the Nvidia GeForce 3050, have been raised, many players agree that the game is fun and provides good value for money. The simpler revenue model, notably the non-expiring battle passes, has also been praised. This lack of pressure to constantly grind is a significant positive for many players.
