CDPR Admits Gameplay Deficiencies in Witcher 3

The Witcher 3, while critically acclaimed, wasn't without its flaws. Many fans felt the combat system fell short.

In a recent interview, The Witcher 4's game director, Sebastian Kalemba, acknowledged areas needing improvement. He highlighted gameplay and monster hunting as key focus areas for significant upgrades.

"We want to improve the gameplay and the monster hunting experience," he stated.

Kalemba emphasized that the Witcher 4 trailer should showcase powerful and impactful monster fights, focusing on improved choreography and emotional intensity.

Expect a substantial combat overhaul in The Witcher 4. Reassuringly, CD Projekt Red recognizes the shortcomings of past Witcher games' combat and is addressing them. These improvements will likely carry over to future installments, especially given Ciri's starring role in the new trilogy.

Interestingly, the developers also plan to incorporate Triss's wedding into the game. Witcher 3 originally intended this event (the Ashen Marriage quest) to occur in Novigrad. The storyline involves Triss's feelings for Castello and her desire for a swift wedding. Geralt's role would involve assisting with preparations, such as monster extermination, acquiring alcohol, and choosing a wedding gift.
