Xbox Developer Direct 2025: January 23rd Showcase Announced

Microsoft has officially announced the next Xbox Developer Direct, scheduled for January 23rd, 2025, at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm GMT. This marks the third annual event, following successful showcases in 2023 and 2024. The event will be streamed on YouTube and Twitch.

This showcase promises a first look at several highly anticipated titles, confirming its status as the first major Xbox game showcase of 2025. While rumors circulated earlier in January, the official announcement confirms the date and provides details on some featured games.

Confirmed Games:

  • Clair Obscur: Expedition 33: A turn-based RPG from Sandfall Interactive, slated for a 2025 release and confirmed as a day-one Xbox Game Pass title.
  • Doom: The Dark Ages: The latest installment in the iconic Doom franchise from id Software, following its initial announcement in June 2024 and a playable demo at QuakeCon 2024. A mid-2025 release is currently rumored.
  • South of Midnight: A stylish action-adventure game developed by Compulsion Games (Contrast, We Happy Few), initially unveiled in June 2023. A release date is expected to be revealed during the showcase.

Beyond the Confirmed Titles:

While these three games are confirmed, previous Xbox Developer Directs have showcased multiple titles, often exceeding 40 minutes in length. The 2024 event, for example, featured Avowed, Ara: History Untold, and others. Therefore, expect additional surprises and potentially further reveals during the January 23rd broadcast.
