The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2 Premiere Release Date Confirmed – IGN Fan Fest 2025

by Gabriella Mar 15,2025

The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2 premieres May 4, 2025, as exclusively revealed at IGN Fan Fest 2025.

IGN showcased an exclusive clip and interview featuring Scott Gimple (Chief Content Officer, The Walking Dead Universe), Lauren Cohan (Maggie), and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Negan) during Fan Fest 2025 Day 2.

Cohan described Maggie's mental state entering Season 2: "Sadly, not everything is as rosy as one would hope," she explained. "My son's a teenager, creating typical family tensions. Add Ginny, a teenage girl in my care, to the mix, and you have relatable domestic dynamics playing out against the backdrop of an apocalyptic world where survival is a daily struggle. That's our starting point before the next big threat emerges."

PlayJeffrey Dean Morgan discussed Negan's journey from villain to fan favorite: "Negan's firmly under the thumb of The Dama and The Croat, in unfamiliar territory," he said. "He'll try to turn the tables, of course, but he's not enjoying this. He starts the season struggling, always scheming, but finding himself in a tough spot."

Morgan also commented on Negan's iconic barbed-wire bat, Lucille: "Lucille? What can I say? I love that thing! It's the only prop I've ever enjoyed carrying around. It brings back fond memories for me…not so much for Lauren!"

Gimple discussed the Season 2 conflict: "There's no single big bad. The power dynamics shift throughout the season. It's more complex, more political, and then it gets physical."

IGN also shared the opening minutes of Season 2's premiere episode below.
