Vampire Survivors Provides Update on PlayStation Release

Poncle, the UK developer behind the popular roguelike, Vampire Survivors, has offered a further update on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 port releases. Both the game's latest expansion and its most recent update launched in May.

Initially released in December 2021, Vampire Survivors is a top-down shooter challenging players with relentless waves of enemies. Following its successful launch and subsequent Nintendo Switch port, the PS4 and PS5 versions were announced in April for a Summer 2024 release. With summer now underway in the UK, Poncle has provided a progress report.

While a precise release date for the PS4 and PS5 versions remains unannounced, Poncle assures players it will be shared as soon as possible. The development team explains the extended timeframe is due to their unfamiliarity with Sony's submission processes. They're also currently experimenting with PlayStation's Trophy system to ensure a polished achievement experience, mirroring the over 200 achievements available on the highly-rated Steam version.

Poncle's transparency has been well-received by fans on Twitter, with many expressing excitement about earning the Platinum Trophy upon release – a coveted reward for completing all achievements.

The Operation Guns DLC, a Contra-themed expansion, debuted on May 9th. This addition introduces new biomes inspired by Contra levels, along with 11 new characters, 22 automatic weapons, and classic Contra music.

A subsequent hotfix, 1.10.105, released on May 16th, addressed bugs in both the base game and the Operation Guns DLC, further refining the new content.
