Several approaches exist, as not all bosses are essential for game completion. However, defeating most bosses provides substantial rewards. Therefore, we strongly recommend tackling as many as possible. The following lists detail non-optional and complete boss orders, followed by a more detailed breakdown.

There are 17 standard bosses and 5 DLC bosses from The Old Hunters. Chalice Dungeon bosses are excluded. The DLC can theoretically be started after Vicar Amelia, but most players recommend a later approach, perhaps before or after Mergo’s Wet Nurse, impacting certain dialogue.

Cleric Beast (Optional)

An early encounter, the Cleric Beast is fast, aggressive, and deals significant damage. Target its hind legs to trip it, then focus on its head.

Father Gascoigne

A challenging early boss, Father Gascoigne is swift and utilizes his gun frequently. Mastering parries significantly aids in defeating him.

Blood-Starved Beast (Optional)

Located in Old Yharnam's Church, this boss hits hard and possesses high health. Maintaining distance and using fire/explosive weapons proves effective.

Vicar Amelia

A large, self-healing creature. Exploit its immobility during self-healing for attacks.

The Witch of Hemwick (Optional)

This boss fights alongside henchmen. She's invisible at a distance but visible up close. Firearms are advantageous.

Shadow of Yharnam

A large club-wielding creature. Dodge its attacks, target its head with firearms, and slash its legs to create openings.

Rom, the Vacuous Spider

Beware of poisonous and physical attacks, and summoned spiders. Prioritize spider kills before attacking Rom. Defeating Rom alters the game world, so plan accordingly.

Darkbeast Paarl (Optional)

A large brute found in Yahar'gul. Recommended after Rom.

The One Reborn

Uses physical and magical attacks. Maintain distance and attack when grounded. Eliminate summoned enemies first.
