TennoCon 2024 delivered a spectacular showcase, culminating in the announcement of Warframe: 1999, a major update promising one of the franchise's most captivating expansions. This isn't just an update; it's a time-traveling adventure.

Before the main event, a prologue quest, "The Lotus Eaters," launches in August 2024. Reuniting players with a beloved character, it sets the stage for the 1999 storyline and introduces Sevatgoth Prime and their unique weaponry. Completing "The Lotus Eaters" (and all preceding quests) is mandatory to access Warframe: 1999, slated for release in Winter 2024.

Warframe: 1999 plunges players into an alternate 1999, where the Y2K bug manifests as a deadly virus threatening global annihilation. The setting: Höllvania, a 90s metropolis corrupted by Techrot. Players navigate this retro-futuristic landscape using Atomicyles, futuristic vehicles capable of bullet jumps, drifts, and even explosive maneuvers. Commanding these vehicles are the Hex, a team of six unique characters, each sporting a Protoframe – a Warframe showcasing the human within.

The Hex boasts a star-studded voice cast, including Alpha Takahashi, Ben Starr, Melissa Medina, and Amelia Tyler. Interact with them through in-game instant messaging for a truly authentic 90s experience.

Adding to the 90s nostalgia, players will confront On-lyne, a five-member boy band corrupted by Technocyte Coda. Their infectiously catchy music, including the hit single "Party of Your Lifetime," is available on major streaming services.

Fashion takes center stage with significant upgrades to the in-game fashion system. Players can now equip two fashion frame loadouts and switch between them seamlessly. The introduction of Gemini Skins allows players to bring Protoframes like Arthur and Aoi into the Origin System, complete with fully voiced dialogue during combat and interactions with the Operator.

Beyond Warframe: 1999, Digital Extremes is collaborating with THE LINE animation studio on a related anime short, launching later this year. High-fidelity Heirloom skins for Ember (available now) and Rhino (early 2025) round out the exciting announcements.
