DC's Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow Commences Filming; First Look at Milly Alcock Revealed

Production has officially begun on DC's highly anticipated film, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, starring Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon) as Kara Zor-El. DC Studios head James Gunn shared the news on Bluesky, along with a behind-the-scenes image of Alcock in her director's chair—offering a sneak peek at the actress in character.

Gunn expressed his excitement, confirming Craig Gillespie (Cruella, I, Tonya) as director, a fact previously reported last April. The film is a significant adaptation of Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Norgueira's graphic novel of the same name. This standalone story centers on Ruthye Marye Knoll, an alien girl seeking Supergirl's aid in avenging her father's murder at the hands of the villain Krem. The graphic novel received an Eisner Award nomination for "Best Limited Series" in 2022.

The cast also includes Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem and Eve Ridley as Ruthye. Further casting announcements include David Krumholtz as Zor-El (Supergirl's father), Emily Beecham as Supergirl's mother, and Jason Momoa, reprising his role as Lobo within the rebooted DC universe.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow marks the second film in the newly established DC Universe, following James Gunn's Superman movie slated for release this summer. Other projects in development include The Batman Part II (whose connection to Gunn's DC Universe remains uncertain) and a rumored Clayface film from Mike Flanagan.
