Stellar Blade Shift Up Slips Up with DLC Update

Stellar Blade's highly anticipated Photo Mode and NieR: Automata DLC update, while exciting, unfortunately introduced some game-breaking bugs. However, developer Shift Up assures players a hotfix is underway. Let's dive into the details.

Stellar Blade Update: Game-Breaking Bugs and the Hotfix

A Hotfix is on the Way

Stellar Blade's Patch 1.009, bringing the much-requested Photo Mode and the NieR: Automata collaboration DLC, also brought some unwelcome guests: game-breaking bugs. Players reported being softlocked during a main quest in an earlier dungeon, unable to progress. Others experienced crashes using Photo Mode's selfie cam, and some new cosmetic items failed to render correctly on Eve.

Shift Up is actively working on a hotfix to address these issues. They advise against attempting to force quest progression, recommending patience until the hotfix arrives. Forcing progression might lead to a permanent softlock, even after the patch is released.

Patch 1.009 delivers a substantial content update, headlined by the exciting NieR: Automata collaboration! The developers highlighted on the PlayStation Blog that NieR: Automata was a significant inspiration for Stellar Blade, and this collaboration, born from mutual respect between Director Kim Hyung Tae and Director Yoko Taro, resulted in a fantastic addition to the game. Eleven exclusive collaboration items await players who seek out Emil, the NieR character who has set up shop in Stellar Blade's world.

The highly requested Photo Mode has finally arrived, allowing players to capture stunning images of Eve and her companions. New photo challenge requests further enhance this feature.

Complementing Photo Mode, Eve receives four new outfits and a new accessory (unlocked after completing a specific ending) that alters the appearance of Tachy Mode. A "No Ponytail" option has been added to the settings for even greater character customization. Additional improvements include lip-sync support for six more languages, enhanced projectile auto-aim and bullet magnet functions for the instant death skill, and various smaller bug fixes for a smoother overall experience.
