Star Wars Outlaws' Sales Predicted to Fall Off by Industry Analyst

Ubisoft positioned Star Wars Outlaws, alongside the upcoming Assassin's Creed Shadows (AC Shadows), as key drivers of future growth. The company's Q1 2024-25 report emphasized these titles as crucial for improving its financial outlook. However, the less-than-stellar sales of Outlaws have cast a shadow over these plans.

Ubisoft's Q1 report highlighted a 15% increase in console and PC session days, largely due to Games-as-a-Service titles. Monthly active users (MAUs) also rose 7% year-on-year to 38 million. Despite this positive engagement data, the underwhelming performance of Star Wars Outlaws remains a concern.

Reports describe Star Wars Outlaws sales as sluggish. J.P. Morgan analyst Daniel Kerven lowered his sales projection from 7.5 million units to 5.5 million units through March 2025, citing the game's failure to meet expectations despite positive reviews.

Following Outlaws' August 30th release, Ubisoft's share price experienced a significant two-day drop. Shares fell 5.1% on Monday, September 3rd, and a further 2.4% by Tuesday morning, reaching their lowest point since 2015 and adding to a year-to-date decline exceeding 30%.

While critics generally praised Star Wars Outlaws, player reception appears less enthusiastic. The game currently holds a user score of only 4.5 out of 10 on Metacritic.
