Star Wars Game Unveils Newcomer

Aspyr's upcoming release of Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles for modern consoles features a surprising addition to the roster: the playable character Jar Jar Binks. A recent trailer showcases Binks wielding a staff in action-packed gameplay.

This isn't the only new addition; Aspyr has unveiled ten new playable characters, with more promised. The original 2000 release of Jedi Power Battles, based on Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, is getting a significant upgrade. Beyond new characters, enhancements include customizable lightsaber colors and cheat code support.

The Jar Jar Binks reveal trailer highlights his chaotic fighting style and signature voice lines. While some fans may have fantasized about a Darth Jar Jar-esque red lightsaber, he'll instead utilize a large staff. The game launches January 23rd, with pre-orders currently available.

Confirmed New Playable Characters:

  • Jar Jar Binks
  • Rodian
  • Flame Droid
  • Gungan Guard
  • Destroyer Droid
  • Ishi Tib
  • Rifle Droid
  • Staff Tusken Raider
  • Weequay
  • Mercenary

Aspyr's commitment to expanding the playable character roster is evident, adding diversity with characters like the Staff Tusken Raider and Rodian, as well as several droid types. The inclusion of both Jar Jar Binks and the Gungan Guard demonstrates a commitment to representing various factions from the film.

With the launch just weeks away, fans eagerly anticipate experiencing these new characters and the overall updated game. Aspyr's previous work on titles like Star Wars: Bounty Hunter suggests a promising reimagining of this classic Star Wars game.
