"Spider-Verse Star Yet to Record Lines"

by Liam Apr 07,2025

Fans eagerly awaiting the release of "Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse" will have to exercise patience, as star Jharrel Jerome has confirmed that production on the highly anticipated third film is still in the planning stages. In a recent interview with Decider, Jerome revealed that he hasn't even recorded any lines yet, indicating that the project is far from completion. "No, I wish," Jerome stated when asked about the start of production. "We haven’t started up yet. A lot of things being figured out, but good things."

Given that "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" was released five years after the first film in 2023, it's no surprise that the third installment isn't expected to hit theaters anytime soon. Industry reports suggest that "Beyond the Spider-Verse" might not be released until 2026 at the earliest, with some speculation pointing towards a 2028 release to maintain the pace set by the previous film.

While Jerome's role in "Across the Spider-Verse" was relatively minor, his character, Miles G. Morales from Earth-42, is poised to take center stage as the main antagonist in "Beyond the Spider-Verse." Spoiler alert for the finale of "Across the Spider-Verse": At the end of the film, Jerome's character appears not as Spider-Man but as the Prowler. In this alternate universe, the radioactive spider that was meant to bite Miles G. Morales instead bit the protagonist, Miles Morales, leading to a drastically different life path for Miles G. After the death of his universe's Peter Parker, New York fell under the control of supervillains, and Miles G. Morales joined their ranks.

The narrative of how this alternate Miles Morales, now the Prowler, will interact and clash with the main Miles Morales, who became Spider-Man, is set to unfold in "Beyond the Spider-Verse." However, fans will need to wait patiently as the film's production continues to take shape.
