Shift Up Reports Record Year, PC Sales to Surpass PS5

by Lucy Apr 23,2025

Stellar Blade developer Shift Up has reported a record-breaking financial year, with the game generating $43 million in royalties. The success of Stellar Blade contributed significantly to Shift Up's 2024 financial report, which showcased a total revenue of $151.4 million, marking a 30.4% increase from the previous year.

According to Game World Observer, the momentum for Stellar Blade shows no signs of slowing down. Shift Up is optimistic about the upcoming PC version, expecting it to outperform the original PlayStation 5 release, particularly in the Asian market. This anticipation is fueled by the game's strong performance and popularity, having sold a million copies and receiving a 7/10 rating from IGN.

IGN's review highlighted Stellar Blade's strengths in action gameplay but noted shortcomings in character development, storytelling, and certain RPG mechanics. Despite these critiques, the game has resonated well with players, showcasing its appeal in the action role-playing genre.

In addition to the success of Stellar Blade, Shift Up is set to unveil its next project, Project Witches, in the first half of 2025. This new game was announced shortly after Stellar Blade's PS5 launch in 2024, before a significant push for a sequel could be established. While Project Witches is on the horizon, Shift Up has expressed interest in potentially developing another game within the Stellar Blade franchise.

Stellar Blade immerses players in the role of Eve, who fights against mysterious invaders to reclaim Earth in a fast-paced action RPG. The game's financial success and the anticipation for its PC release underscore its impact on the gaming industry, while Shift Up's future projects continue to build excitement among fans.
