Rocksteady Hit By More Layoffs

Rocksteady Studios, the creator of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, announced further layoffs in late 2024, impacting programmers, artists, and testers. This follows September's layoffs, which halved the testing team's size.

The studio faced significant hurdles in 2024, struggling to maintain Suicide Squad despite its poor reception. Warner Bros. reported project losses of approximately $200 million. No further updates are planned for 2025, though servers will remain active.

These cuts weren't isolated to Rocksteady; Games Montreal, another Warner Bros. studio, also experienced layoffs, losing 99 employees in December.

The game's early access launch exacerbated the situation. Players encountered numerous bugs, including server outages and a major plot spoiler. Negative reviews from prominent gaming publications and widespread gameplay complaints followed. Analytics firm McLuck reported a shocking 791% surge in refund requests due to the game's flawed debut.

Rocksteady's future projects remain undisclosed.
