A Glimpse into Rhythm-Based Combat and Boss Battles

The recently released Ratatan gameplay trailer offers an exciting preview of the game's mechanics, featuring a thrilling battle against a colossal boss crab. Unveiled during IGN Fan Fest Day 2 2025, the trailer from developer Ratatan Works highlights the unique blend of rhythm game elements and side-scrolling action. Prepare for online co-op mayhem with up to four players battling through massive melees featuring 100 characters!

Created by Patapon creator Hiroyuki Kotani, with music by the original Patapon composer Kemmei Adachi, Ratatan's Kickstarter campaign, launched in 2023, has successfully reached its console launch stretch goal, securing its release on multiple platforms.

Closed Beta Commences February 27, 2025

Ratatan's closed beta test is scheduled to begin on February 27, 2025, as announced on the game's Kickstarter page. Producer Kazuto Sakajiri shared some exciting updates, revealing that the game has surpassed 100,000 Steam wishlists and received positive feedback on its original soundtrack demo. While the game won't be featured in the upcoming Steam Next Fest, the team is prioritizing the closed beta and plans to deliver an improved demo for the June Steam Next Fest.

Sakajiri outlined the closed beta's scope: players will initially experience up to Stage 1, with Stages 2 and 3 being added during the month-long testing period. He also noted that "The distribution of codes, start date, and time will be announced via Discord and X as soon as they are confirmed."

Ratatan is slated for release in 2025 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. A precise release date is yet to be announced.
