PUBG 2025 Roadmap: What It Means for Mobile Gaming

by Samuel Apr 08,2025

Today, Krafton unveiled an exciting roadmap for PUBG in 2025, hinting at significant developments that could impact the mobile version as well. The roadmap includes a shift to Unreal Engine 5, a move to current-gen consoles, and more high-profile collaborations. However, it's the mention of a "unified experience" that particularly caught our attention, especially in relation to mobile gaming.

While the roadmap is specifically for PUBG, it's worth noting that many updates, such as the new Rondo map, have also been integrated into PUBG Mobile. The idea of a "unified experience" currently refers to modes within PUBG, but it's not far-fetched to think this could extend to a broader unification between the PC/console and mobile versions. This might even include crossplay-compatible modes in the future.

Enter the battlegroundsThe roadmap also emphasizes a stronger focus on user-generated content (UGC), a trend already seen in PUBG Mobile's World of Wonder mode. Krafton's plans to launch a UGC project that allows content sharing among players echo similar initiatives by competitors like Fortnite. This push towards UGC could signal a potential fusion of the PC/console and mobile versions of PUBG, although currently, it's more about reading between the lines.

The roadmap clearly outlines a major push forward for PUBG, and it's likely that PUBG Mobile will see at least some of these developments in 2025. However, the adoption of Unreal Engine 5 poses a significant challenge, as it would require the mobile version to also transition to this new engine.
