Proxi, The Sims Creator's New Game, Has More Details Revealed

Will Wright, creator of The Sims, recently unveiled further details about his new AI life simulation game, Proxi, during a Twitch livestream with BreakthroughT1D. This innovative title, first hinted at in 2018, is finally taking shape at Gallium Studio.

A Deep Dive into Personal Memories

The livestream, part of BreakthroughT1D's Dev Diaries series, focused on Proxi's unique gameplay. Wright explained that Proxi is an AI-powered life simulator built directly from the player's memories. Players input personal memories as text, which the game then transforms into animated scenes. These scenes are customizable using in-game assets for a more accurate representation of the recalled experience.

Each added memory, termed a "mem," enhances the game's AI and populates the player's "mind world"—a navigable 3D environment composed of hexagons. As the mind world expands, so does the presence of Proxies, representing friends and family members, woven into the fabric of the player's memories. These memories are freely arranged on a timeline, connecting with various Proxies to illustrate the context and individuals involved. Remarkably, Proxies can even be exported to other game worlds like Minecraft and Roblox!

Wright emphasized the game's goal: to create "magical connections with memories and bring them to life." He aimed for a deeply personal experience, leveraging the inherent self-interest of players. He humorously noted, "No game designer has ever gone wrong by overestimating the narcissism of their players. The more I can make a game about you, the more you'll like it."

Proxi is now featured on Gallium Studio's official website, with platform announcements forthcoming.
