Official: Dungeonborne is preparing to shut down
Dungeonborne, the PvPvE action game drawing inspiration from the popular Dark and Darker, is shutting down. Less than a year after launch, the developers have announced the end of support and the closure of its servers, citing low player activity and a lack of substantial updates.
While the game's Steam page remains accessible via direct link, it's no longer discoverable through the platform's search function. The official reasons for the shutdown haven't been publicly detailed, but the extremely low player count is clearly a major factor. Since late 2024, concurrent player numbers rarely exceeded 200, dwindling to a mere 10-15 players in recent days.
Dungeonborne's servers will be permanently deactivated on May 28th, bringing a premature end to the project. Despite initial interest from fans of the genre, the game will ultimately remain unrealized, a cautionary tale in the competitive landscape of online gaming.
