Nintendo Switch 2: Genki's CES Mockup Reveals Key Features

Genki, a prominent handheld gaming accessory developer, unveiled a 3D-printed Nintendo Switch 2 mockup at CES 2025, revealing several key features. This model, reportedly based on a black market acquisition, accurately reflects the console's dimensions and design.

Key features showcased include a larger form factor approaching the size of Valve's Steam Deck, magnetic Joy-Con controllers with integrated optical sensors, a second USB-C port, and a currently unidentified "C" button.

Genki CEO Eddie Tsai confirmed the magnetic Joy-Con design in an interview with The Verge. The magnetic connection utilizes a release pin mechanism within each Joy-Con, ensuring secure attachment during gameplay. The optical sensors suggest potential functionality as mouse-like peripherals, supported by recently leaked Switch 2 images.

Despite its increased size, the Switch 2 remains slim enough to physically fit within the existing Switch dock. However, design differences render it incompatible for use. The purpose of the additional USB-C port and the "C" button remain unknown.
