Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak Patch Size Revealed

Monster Hunter Wilds launched with a surprisingly hefty day-one patch, weighing in at a substantial 18GB. While the patch notes remain elusive, players are urged to download this update for optimal performance.

The significant file size likely stems from the inclusion of high-resolution textures, noticeably absent from review copies. This addition significantly enhances the game's visual fidelity. Given the PlayStation 5's initial patch release, it's also probable that PS5 Pro enhancements are included, boosting gameplay for console players. Bug fixes are another likely component, addressing issues that inevitably surface before launch.

Despite its "day-one" designation, pre-order players might find the patch available for download prior to the official release date. Those with slower internet connections should prioritize downloading the patch before February 28th to ensure a smooth launch experience.

It's important to note that this update (version 1.000.020) is primarily focused on performance and bug fixes, not new content. Players anticipating major additions will need to look towards the game's post-launch DLC. Three paid DLC packs are planned, alongside two free content updates. The first free update, arriving in spring, introduces Mizutsune and event quests, with further content, including new monsters and missions, slated for summer.
