"Monster Hunter Outlanders: Mobile Open World by Pokémon Unite Developers"
Get ready for an exciting new addition to the Monster Hunter series that you can take with you wherever you go! Introducing Monster Hunter Outlanders, a mobile game that promises to bring the thrilling experience of monster hunting to your smartphone. Developed by Capcom in collaboration with TiMi Studio Group, a Tencent subsidiary known for hits like Call of Duty: Mobile and Pokemon Unite, this game is set to redefine mobile gaming with its open-world survival RPG format.
Monster Hunter Outlanders is designed to offer the full "Monster Hunter experience" on mobile devices. Players will dive into expansive environments, exploring lush grasslands, serene lakes, and observing monsters in their natural habitats. The game aims to retain the series' well-refined gameplay while optimizing it for mobile, ensuring a unique and engaging battle system. Dong Huang from TiMi Studio emphasized in a Producers’ Interview that the goal is to maximize fun while staying true to the Monster Hunter essence.
While an official release date is yet to be announced, Capcom and TiMi are organizing playtests to refine the game based on player feedback. These tests will be available on Android and iOS devices. To stay in the loop and possibly participate, interested players should sign up on the official Monster Hunter Outlanders website and complete a short survey about their gaming preferences. This could enhance their chances of joining future beta tests.
The visual quality of Monster Hunter Outlanders is already turning heads, with some fans suggesting it could rival the graphics of Monster Hunter Rise on the Nintendo Switch. Although the developers haven't disclosed the minimum device requirements, a survey on their website hints at compatibility with a range of Snapdragon processors, from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 to the older Snapdragon 845, indicating broad device support.
Everything We Know About Monster Hunter Outlanders
The game's open world will feature seamlessly connected environments like forests, swamps, and deserts, enhanced by dynamic climates and a living ecosystem. Players can witness turf wars between large monsters, adding to the immersive experience. Familiar monsters such as Diablos, Kulu-Ya-Ku, Pukei-Pukei, Barroth, Rathian, and Rathalos will return, alongside a mysterious new monster shrouded in clouds, potentially linked to unique environmental conditions that cause mutations in monsters.
Combat in Monster Hunter Outlanders has been tailored for mobile devices, with many weapon mechanics preserved, though the exact adaptations remain undisclosed. A new building system allows players to gather materials and construct houses or items to aid in exploration, reminiscent of Wild Hearts' Karakuris. Whether this system will also enhance combat is yet to be revealed.
Unlike previous titles, players will select from a roster of characters, each with distinct personalities, stories, specialized weapons, and skills. While weapons and armor from past games will be available for customization, the method of acquiring these characters is still under wraps. IGN suggests the game may include in-app purchases, hinting at a possible gacha system where luck could influence character acquisition.
Additionally, Monster Hunter Outlanders introduces new "buddies" to assist in item gathering and monster hunting. Alongside the familiar Palicoes, players can expect to team up with a monkey and a bird, whose full capabilities will be detailed in future announcements.
