Minecraft Live 2025 Unveils New Visuals and Features

Minecraft Live 2025 has concluded, and Mojang has unveiled an exciting array of updates and new content for the world's best-selling video game. The first game drop of the year, titled "Spring to Life," is set to launch on March 25. This update will enhance the Overworld, making biomes feel more immersive and alive with new variants of cows, pigs, and chickens. Additionally, players can expect new ambient features such as the glittering firefly bush, falling leaves, and the whispers of sand, adding to the exploration experience.

The second game drop, while still unnamed, promises intriguing additions including a new block called the Dried Ghast. This block, slightly smaller than a regular block and featuring cute tentacles and a grumpy face, can be rehydrated to transform into a Ghastling—a baby ghast. With time and care, the Ghastling can evolve into a Happy Ghast. Players can craft a Ghast harness, allowing up to four players to fly together on a single Happy Ghast, enhancing the multiplayer experience. Mojang also introduced the Locator Bar, a new feature at the bottom of the screen that helps players locate their friends, particularly useful when flying on a Happy Ghast. This feature is especially beneficial for Survival Mode builders, offering a taste of Creative Mode freedom within Survival.

Mojang also shared a new clip from the upcoming "A Minecraft Movie" and announced a movie-themed in-game live event starting on March 25. This event, taking place in Midport Village, invites players to join Steve and his movie companions in a multiplayer experience to defend the village from a piglin attack through three mini-games. The event runs from March 25 to April 7, offering participants the chance to earn the Yearn cape by completing all challenges.

During our visit to Mojang's offices in Sweden, we learned more about the developer's stance on not creating a Minecraft 2, keeping the game non-free-to-play, and their decision against using generative AI for game development.
