Marvel Rivals: PvE Mode Remains Unconfirmed, but NetEase is Exploring Options

While Marvel Rivals is a relatively new game, player anticipation for significant content additions is high. Recent speculation regarding a potential PvE boss fight fueled rumors of an upcoming PvE mode. However, NetEase recently clarified that, currently, there are no concrete plans for a full-fledged PvE mode.

In a conversation with Marvel Rivals producer Weicong Wu at the DICE Summit, the possibility of a PvE mode was addressed. Wu stated that while there are no immediate plans, the development team is actively experimenting with new gameplay modes. The team's focus is on creating an engaging and fun experience, and a PvE mode would only be implemented if it met those criteria.

Following this statement, Marvel Games executive producer Danny Koo inquired about my personal preference for a PvE mode. Wu elaborated, acknowledging player interest in PvE but emphasizing that a robust PvE experience would significantly differ from the game's current structure. The team is exploring various approaches, potentially including a "lighter" PvE mode, to determine the best fit for the game.

Therefore, while a full-scale PvE mode isn't currently in the works, NetEase's exploration of "lighter" PvE options, such as limited-time events, remains a possibility. Further details remain undisclosed.

Marvel Rivals continues to receive updates approximately every six weeks, with new characters like the Human Torch and The Thing slated for release on February 21st. Separate discussions with Wu and Koo also covered potential Nintendo Switch 2 release and the topic of alleged "fake" hero leaks in the game's code (details available in a separate article).
