Following the 2025 Game Developers Conference (GDC), Choi Ji-Won, the director of Lies of P, shared his enthusiasm after experiencing Elden Ring: Nightreign's network test. As a long-time admirer of FromSoftware games, Choi's admiration for their innovative approach was evident in the design of Lies of P.

Choi praised the Elden Ring team, stating, "I've tried [Nightreign] and it was very refreshing and new. It's clear they're pushing boundaries with their imagination and vision, which inspired me to ensure Overture delivers an exceptional experience."

He further expressed openness to future projects, including the possibility of developing multiplayer games. Choi noted, "In terms of our future endeavors, we are definitely open to any sort of consideration in the future."

Despite his affinity for FromSoftware's work, Choi clarified that his inspirations are diverse. Choi disclosed that the Overture DLC, designed for experienced players, would take approximately 15-20 hours to complete. This expansion is packed with new bosses and content that were initially planned for the game's launch but couldn't be included due to development constraints.

"Overture is deeply interconnected with the base game, making its development a challenging yet rewarding endeavor to complete the Lies of P experience," Choi elaborated.

Set as a prequel, Overture takes players back to Krat during its final haunting days, following a legendary Stalker. This DLC incorporates new ideas, player feedback, and unused concepts from the original game's development. Choi likened it to a Director's Cut, essentially serving as the final chapter of the game.

He highlighted the importance of quality, stating, "When we released the base game, we had to prioritize delivering the best quality possible. The community's support post-launch motivated us to include everything we envisioned in this expansion."

Overture is Not Connected to the Final Cutscene of the Base Game

During an interview with IGN at GDC 2025, Choi clarified that the Overture DLC does not connect directly to the final cutscene of the base game. This cutscene hinted at future directions for the Lies of P universe, but Choi assured fans that the DLC stands on its own.

While a sequel to Lies of P was confirmed in a November 2023 Director’s Letter video, details about Lies of P 2 remain scarce. Choi emphasized the team's commitment to quality, stating, "When we share news or assets with you, it will be because we're ready to present it with the highest quality."
