League of Legends is bringing back Hextech Chests, responding to significant player feedback. Read on to learn more about this and other upcoming updates.
League of Legends Reverses Unpopular Decisions
The Return of Hextech Chests
Following player feedback, Hextech Chests are making a comeback in League of Legends. Riot Games announced this in a developer update on February 27, 2025, both on their website and via a YouTube video. Riot acknowledged that recent changes missed the mark for many players, stating they'd been listening to feedback and are adjusting accordingly. They specifically recognized the importance of Hextech Chests to players, admitting they underestimated their significance.Starting with patch 25.05, players can earn up to 10 chests and keys per act. Eight chests will be available through the free pass, with the remaining two earnable via the Honor system.
Exalted Mordekaiser Delayed, Further Fan Feedback Addressed
The release of the Exalted Mordekaiser skin, along with the entire Exalted skin line, has been delayed. Riot Games wants to ensure the skin meets its intended design goals. This delay also means the planned release of an Exalted skin in every Act this year will not occur.
Responding to player concerns about Mythic Essence availability in the paid pass, Riot will replace a non-Prestige skin with 25 Mythic Essence. They cited feedback indicating a shortage of Mythic Essence and an overabundance of champions within seasonal themes.
Addressing accessibility concerns regarding Blue Essence and champion shards, the cost of all champions will be reduced by 50% in patch 25.05.
Finally, in response to feedback about Clash event frequency, the monthly Clash schedule is returning. March will feature an ARURF Clash, followed by a regular Summoner's Rift Clash in April.
Blue Essence Emporium and Your Shop Return
Popular features, Your Shop and the Blue Essence Emporium, are making a return. Your Shop is slated for patch 25.06, and the Emporium for 25.07.
Riot Games emphasized their commitment to continuous improvement, stating that addressing player concerns is an ongoing process. They plan to monitor player feedback and make further adjustments as needed. League of Legends remains free-to-play on PC. Visit our League of Legends page for the latest news and updates.
