Jack Quaid Eyes Bioshock Role Amid Max Payne Comparisons in Novocaine
Jack Quaid, star of the hit series "The Boys," has expressed a strong interest in joining a live-action adaptation of the beloved first-person shooter game, BioShock. During a Reddit AMA coinciding with the release of his new movie, "Novocaine," Quaid highlighted the game's "rich lore" as a compelling reason for a potential TV or movie adaptation. "I would actually love to be in a live-action adaptation of BioShock - one of my favorite games of all time," he enthused. "I think there's such a rich lore to that game that could be explored in a TV or movie adaptation."
The possibility of a BioShock movie becoming a reality was touched upon by producer Roy Lee last July, who mentioned that the project had undergone a "reconfiguration" due to leadership changes. This shift aims to create a "more personal" film, reflecting adjustments to lower budgets from Netflix. While specifics about the plot remain under wraps, it's clear that the original vision has been altered. Francis Lawrence, known for directing "The Hunger Games," is still set to helm the project. Lee explained, "The new regime has lowered the budgets... So we’re doing a much smaller version. It’s going to be a more personal point of view, as opposed to a grander, big project."
Quaid's comments on BioShock also drew attention to his striking resemblance to video game icon Max Payne, whose likeness is inspired by Remedy writer Sam Lake. Fans have noted similarities between Quaid's character in "Novocaine" and Max Payne, sparking discussions on social media. Quaid admitted to the resemblance but clarified that he has not played Max Payne, although it's on his list of games to explore. "I've seen people say that I look like Max Payne, and when I've looked at the box art, even I did a double-take," he shared. "I love Rockstar's games, but unfortunately I've never played that one - it's next on the list, for sure."
Beyond BioShock, Quaid revealed his passion for FromSoftware's challenging games, such as Bloodborne, Sekiro, and Elden Ring. He described himself as a "huge video game nerd" and praised the intense difficulty of these titles. "And lately I've been diving headfirst into the FromSoftware library. I beat Bloodborne, then I beat Sekiro, and now I'm going full boar into Elden Ring," he said. Quaid also mentioned using Reddit frequently to gather tips and tricks for conquering FromSoftware's notorious bosses, showcasing his dedication and enthusiasm for these games.
