How to Start the Hermit Quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

The Hermit quest unlocks automatically as you progress through blacksmith Radovan's quests in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. After retrieving the lost cart, return to Radovan. He'll then request a custom-forged sword as a wedding gift, initiating the Hermit questline. Before confronting the hermit, you must gather information from Troskowitz villagers.

Get Information About the Hermit

Talk to Gerda and Stanislav

Next, speak with Gerda in Troskowitz; she witnessed a relevant event. Offer Groschen or attempt a dialogue check to obtain information. Afterwards, speak with Stanislav in Apollonia. Again, either pay him or succeed in a dialogue check.

Gather Evidence

With the information gathered, find physical evidence. Locate the cross Gerda mentioned and dig up the grave (you'll need a spade; purchase one from the Troskowitz trader or find one in a cemetery). Examine the documents and artifacts related to the Knights of the Cross.

Then, investigate the quest marker in Apollonia. You'll find a hut and a clearing with a black horse. Examine the horse for your next clue.

Talk to the Hermit

Proceed to the hermit's hut and speak with him. Without evidence, he won't cooperate. Once you present your findings, choose dialogue options like: "You're suspicious," exhaust all options about the clues, and finally, "Out with it!" He'll reveal his true identity as Konrad. Before giving up the sword, he requests you speak with a widow, Margaret, and deliver a cross.

Visit the cemetery near Apollonia, speak with Margaret, and give her the cross. This starts the optional Sinful Soul quest, allowing you to help her bury Ambrose. You can return to Konrad immediately if you choose.

Help Konrad or Kill Him

Approaching Konrad's hut, you'll find Crusaders. You can choose to help them kill Konrad or help Konrad escape. If you choose to help Konrad escape, sneak towards his hut. He will speak with you, and you can then ask him about the sword and choose to help or kill him.

Get the Hermit’s Sword

After dealing with Konrad, search north of his hut for two tangled oak trees. The hermit's sword is stuck in the ground. Retrieve it and return to Radovan in Tachov to complete the quest.
