Hearthstone has unveiled detailed information about the much-anticipated Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set, slated for release on January 21. This Mini-Set, part of The Great Dark Beyond expansion, will introduce 49 new cards, making it the largest in Hearthstone's history. This collection spans class cards, multi-class StarCraft faction cards, and includes a unique factionless neutral Legendary card.
During the Warcraft Direct on November 13, 2024, Hearthstone teased the Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set, marking a crossover event with Blizzard's beloved, yet underrepresented, StarCraft universe. Initial details were limited, but more comprehensive information was promised post-New Year.
Two months later, Hearthstone has fully disclosed the contents of this expansive Mini-Set. Heroes of StarCraft will boast 49 brand-new cards—11 more than typical Mini-Sets. Each Hearthstone class will receive three cards, while each of the three StarCraft factions—Zerg, Protoss, and Terran—will be represented by five cards tailored to specific classes, one of which is a Legendary card. The Mini-Set is rounded out with a single neutral Legendary card, Grunty. Hearthstone has already showcased several of these cards, with the rest slated for reveal in the week leading up to the Mini-Set's launch.

The Zerg faction cards, accessible to Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Hunter, and Warlock classes, emphasize swarm tactics with Zerglings and damage-dealing Hydralisks. The Protoss cards, available to Druid, Mage, Priest, and Rogue, focus on mana manipulation to expedite the deployment of high-cost cards like the Carrier. Meanwhile, Paladin, Shaman, and Warrior classes will benefit from enhanced Starship mechanics introduced in The Great Dark Beyond set, including new Starship Pieces and strategies for launching multiple Starships, along with a special Mech-themed Starship.
Despite its larger scale, the Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set comes with a higher price point. While these cards can be obtained through The Great Dark Beyond packs, a complete set of Heroes of StarCraft cards is available for $20 or 2500 gold—a $5 and 500 gold increase over standard Mini-Sets. An all-Golden version is priced at $80 or 12,000 gold, compared to the usual $70 and 10,000 gold. Alternatively, faction-specific packs for Protoss, Terran, or Zerg can be purchased for $10 or 1200 gold.
To celebrate the Mini-Set's release, Hearthstone has planned two streaming events: StarCast and HearthCraft. StarCast, scheduled for January 23 at 10 AM PST, will feature renowned StarCraft players TrumpSC and Day9 showcasing the new cards. HearthCraft, on January 24 at 9 AM PST, will see Hearthstone community creators representing each faction in competitive matches and mini-games. Viewers can earn two normal and two Golden The Great Dark Beyond packs by watching these events on Twitch, ensuring fans don't miss out on these free rewards.
