The Pokemon Trading Card Game (TCG) has just achieved a monumental feat by setting a new Guinness World Record. On November 26, 2024, The Pokemon Company celebrated the release of their latest expansion, Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks, by hosting the longest unboxing livestream ever recorded.

The Marathon Unboxing Livestream

The record-breaking event was streamed live on Pokemon’s Twitch channel and lasted over 24 hours. It featured well-known internet personalities such as Joe Merrick from Serebii, PokeGirl Ranch, and Mayplaystv. Together, they opened an astounding 1,500 booster packs and other Pokemon products, amassing over 20,000 cards by the end of the marathon, as reported by Pokemon’s Official Press website.

Peter Murphy, Senior Director of Marketing at The Pokemon Company International, expressed his pride in this achievement, stating, “It’s been an incredible 24 hours of pack opening, and we’re thrilled to have achieved such an ambitious GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title alongside an amazing team of content creators.”

The excitement doesn't end there. Fans should stay tuned for more product giveaways on content creators' channels in the coming weeks, as announced on the Pokemon’s Official Press website. Additionally, the cards collected during the livestream will be organized into binders and donated to charities, including Barnardo’s in the UK, just in time for the holiday season.

Released on November 8, 2024, the Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks expansion introduces players to the Terarium, a key location from Pokemon SV’s The Indigo Disk: DLC Part 2. This set introduces Stellar Tera Pokemon ex, such as Archaludon ex, known for its formidable Metal Defender ability.

The expansion also includes a variety of iconic dragon-type Pokemon like Palkia, Dialga, Eternatus, Alolan Exeggutor ex, and Tatsugiri ex.
