GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 Hit Sales Milestone

Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V) continues to defy expectations, selling an impressive 5 million copies in the last three months alone, despite its 2013 release date. Its enduring popularity solidifies its position as one of history's best-selling video games.

Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2), released in October 2018, also shows robust sales, adding 3 million units to its already substantial 70 million copy total in the recent quarter.

The ongoing success of GTA Online, GTA V's multiplayer component, plays a crucial role in this sustained performance. Take-Two Interactive's commitment to regular updates, such as the December 2024 Agents of Sabotage, keeps the player base actively engaged.

Looking ahead, Take-Two has confirmed a fall 2025 release for the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI. Furthermore, Mafia: The Old Country is slated for a summer release, and Borderlands 4 is expected later in the year.

While concerns regarding potential delays for Grand Theft Auto VI are understandable, Take-Two's recent financial report reaffirmed the autumn release window. Similarly, Borderlands 4's release in 2025 was confirmed, although specific dates remain unannounced.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick acknowledged Rockstar Games' meticulous development approach, suggesting that additional time may be needed, mirroring the development cycles of past titles like GTA V and RDR2. Despite this, the fall release remains the target.
