Choosing Your Steed in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2: Pebbles vs. Herring

In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, reclaiming a trusty steed is a significant event after the prologue's losses. You'll face a choice between two horses: Pebbles and Herring. Which should you choose?

Pebbles: This loyal companion awaits you at the Semine estate before the Semine-Agnes wedding. Acquiring her requires a purchase, but she's Henry's former mount, offering a strong sentimental connection akin to his dog, Mutt. Her initial stats may seem modest, but a crucial perk significantly boosts her abilities after riding approximately 35 kilometers. This results in a final stat-line of 217 stamina, 353 capacity, 53 speed, and 12 courage – making her a surprisingly strong contender. Her affordability and quicker perk unlock make her a cost-effective and efficient choice.

Herring: Obtained after completing "For Whom the Bell Tolls," Herring is offered by Otto von Bergow. If you already possess another horse, you can sell Herring to Kabat for 300 Groschen. While Herring boasts initially higher base stats than Pebbles, his perk unlock requires a more extensive 50-kilometer ride. This means his superior initial stats are not necessarily maintained throughout the game.

The Verdict:

While Herring's initial stats are tempting, Pebbles ultimately emerges as the superior choice. Her combination of sentimental value, relatively low cost, and efficient stat boost through a shorter riding requirement makes her the more practical and ultimately rewarding steed for Henry's extensive travels. Her boosted stats provide reliable performance, making her a trustworthy companion throughout your adventure.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
