Game Informer Revived: Entire Team Returns Under Neill Blomkamp's Studio
Exciting news for gaming enthusiasts: Game Informer is making a triumphant return just over six months after GameStop shut it down in August 2024. The beloved gaming publication is back, and the entire team is returning to continue delivering the best in gaming content. In a heartfelt 'Letter From the Editor,' Game Informer Editor-In-Chief Matt Miller announced that Gunzilla Games, the developer and publisher behind the free-to-play extraction battle royale game Off the Grid and the blockchain ecosystem GunZ, has acquired the rights to Game Informer from GameStop. They're not just bringing back the editorial team but are also committed to expanding production and beyond.
Gunzilla Games, now in Early Access with Off the Grid and led by District 9 and Chappie director Neill Blomkamp as chief creative officer and co-founder, is dedicated to maintaining Game Informer's independence. Miller emphasized that Gunzilla insisted on Game Informer remaining an independent editorial outlet, ensuring that the editorial team retains full control over content decisions without any external influence.
Under the new entity, Game Informer Inc., the over 30-year history of the website is back online after its brief hiatus. The team has been busy and is ready to release dozens of new reviews for games launched during their absence, along with their Best of 2024 awards. While the print magazine will return at a later date, Miller promises it will be "bigger and better than it was before." In the coming weeks, Game Informer plans to introduce membership and subscription benefits, expand their video, streaming, and feature coverage, and broaden their range of experts and partnerships to bring diverse perspectives to their audience.
To stay updated with all the latest from Game Informer, you can create a new account on their website. Early benefits include access to the Game Informer Magazine Archive, an exclusive weekly newsletter, Dark Mode, and Early-Bird Founder Access. Don't miss out on reconnecting with the best in games, the people who make them, and the global gaming community.
Game Informer is back! The entire team is returning and we can't wait to reconnect. Come join us to celebrate the best in games, the people who make games, and the people who play games from around the world.
