In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, like its predecessors, you'll engage in thrilling battles across ancient China alongside various warlords, but eventually, you'll need to choose your allegiance. This guide explains faction selection.

Understanding Factions in Dynasty Warriors: Origins

The game unfolds in chapters. The first two chapters feature the Wanderer, your character, acting independently. You'll assist Sun Jian, Cao Cao, and Liu Bei, participating in key events like the Yellow Turban Rebellion and the Battle of Hulao Gate, without committing to a specific faction.

Chapter 3 presents the crucial decision: choosing a faction. Before this point, you'll have opportunities to interact with each faction, gaining insight into their strengths and weaknesses.

To progress, complete a specific number of missions for each faction: three for Sun Jian, two for Liu Bei, and one for Cao Cao. Upon completing these, a new mission will unlock, forcing you to choose an alliance. Only factions with completed missions will be selectable. You can, however, complete all faction missions before making your final choice.

Your decision is permanent. The unchosen faction becomes inaccessible for the remainder of the game. You'll lose access to side quests from their officers, preventing further bond increases. This might impact gameplay difficulty; for example, allying with Liu Bei initially limits access to commanding officers and skill point opportunities from side quests.

Each faction offers unique missions. To experience all content, create a separate save file before choosing a faction, allowing you to replay with different allegiances.
