Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii's New Game Plus Mode to be Free Post-Launch

Following fan backlash over the exclusive New Game Plus mode in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has announced a different approach for its upcoming title, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. The highly anticipated sequel, set against the backdrop of Hawaii, will feature Majima Goro's pirate adventures.

While Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth received critical acclaim, its decision to lock New Game Plus behind the most expensive editions sparked controversy. RGG Studio, however, has learned from this experience.

During a recent Like a Dragon Direct, the studio showcased gameplay, including naval combat and crew management. Crucially, they revealed that Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii's New Game Plus mode will be a free post-launch addition. While a specific release date for the update wasn't given, the announcement alleviates concerns about accessibility.

This decision contrasts sharply with the previous game's controversial approach to DLC. While deluxe editions often include cosmetic items, locking essential gameplay features like New Game Plus behind a paywall is a contentious practice. RGG Studio's change of heart is a positive response to player feedback. Although players will need to wait, the relatively short delay should allow ample time for completion of initial playthroughs before the New Game Plus mode becomes available.

With the game's release date set for February 21st, RGG Studio is expected to unveil more details in the coming weeks. Fans are encouraged to follow the studio's social media channels for updates.
