DOOM launched on Apple's Lightning/HDMI adapter
The DOOM community's ingenuity knows no bounds! Recently, NyanSatan achieved the seemingly impossible: running the classic DOOM on Apple's Lightning/HDMI adapter. This tiny device, surprisingly, boasts its own iOS-based firmware and a processor clocking up to 168 MHz. NyanSatan accessed this firmware, leveraging a MacBook to overcome the adapter's lack of internal memory, and successfully launched the game.
Meanwhile, news on a new DOOM iteration is generating excitement. DOOM: The Dark Ages will prioritize accessibility, allowing players to significantly customize the experience. This includes adjusting demon aggression, enemy damage, projectile speed, and even the overall game tempo. Executive producer Marty Stratton emphasizes this focus on accessibility, highlighting the ability to modify various aspects to suit individual preferences. Furthermore, Stratton confirms that understanding DOOM: The Dark Ages' plot doesn't require prior experience with the series, making it accessible to both newcomers and veterans alike. The game promises a far greater degree of customization than previous id Software titles.
