The South Korean Game Rating and Administration Committee (GRAC) has classified Death Stranding 2: On the Beach with an age rating of "19+". This rating is attributed to the game's content featuring "excessive violence," "excessive profanity, profanity and swearing," as well as scenes depicting the use of various illegal substances.

Hideo Kojima recently expressed his gratitude to actress Shiori Kutsuna for her contributions to Death Stranding 2. He acknowledged her dedication, mentioning her efforts in motion capture in Los Angeles, 3D scanning, and voice recordings in both Japanese and English across various locations, despite the challenges brought on by the global health crisis.

Kojima's message read, "Fantastic work, much obliged! For Shiori Kutsuna, that's it. I appreciate all of your hard work." Shiori Kutsuna has been actively involved in the project since the fall of 2022.

At the Tokyo Game Show 2024, Hideo Kojima unveiled new material for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. The presentation included several two-minute cutscenes that introduced key characters and their roles. Notable among them is Tarman, portrayed by George Miller, who commands the mobile base Magellan, navigating through tar lakes. Another character, Dollman, a living doll and former medium who has lost his human form, is played by Fatih Akin. Léa Seydoux reprises her role as Fragile.

A new character named Tomorrow, played by Elle Fanning, was also introduced. According to the storyline, she was found in an otherworldly place resembling the realm of the dead. This ties into the original game's tagline, "Tomorrow is in your hands."

One of the cutscenes features characters singing "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head," a classic song by Burt Bacharach and Hal David, while interacting with a pregnant woman named Rainy, portrayed by Shiori Kutsuna.
