Crusader Kings 3 Devs Share Initial Insights on Nomad-Themed DLC

Paradox Interactive has revealed the first details of their upcoming Crusader Kings 3 expansion, focusing on the unique gameplay experience of nomadic rulers. This DLC introduces a revolutionary governance system specifically designed for nomadic peoples, centered around a new currency: "herd." This "herd" currency will be the cornerstone of a chieftain's authority, significantly impacting various aspects of gameplay, including military might, cavalry unit composition, the dynamics of lord-subject relationships, and other crucial game mechanics.

The nomadic lifestyle necessitates constant relocation, and this is faithfully represented in the expansion. A chieftain's movements will be strategically influenced by their choices, allowing them to negotiate with settled populations or forcibly displace them to secure resources and territory.

Adding a layer of strategic depth, nomadic rulers will command transportable yurts, similar to the adventurer's camp mechanic. These yurts can be upgraded with various components, each providing unique benefits and enhancing the nomadic ruler's power and capabilities.

Further enhancing the nomadic experience, this DLC introduces iconic yurt towns that travel with the ruler, mirroring the functionality of adventurer camps. These mobile settlements can be upgraded with additional structures, offering diverse functions and expanding the strategic options available to the nomadic chieftain.
