Firaxis announced through an official community post on the game's website that the Civ World Summit event would be livestreamed on February 8, 2025. Broadcast live from the XPERION Hamburg in Germany, and hosted by Firaxis Community Manager Sarah Engel and famed Civ YouTuber PotatoMcWhiskey in partnership with Rocket Beans TV, the Civ World Summit will host a live Civ VII multiplayer showdown between five prominent members of the Civ community, including The Spiffing Brit, ZeratoR, The Game Mechanic, Ursa Ryan, and Maurice Weber.

Civilization VII gameplay reveals that players can mix and match leaders and civilizations to rewrite history and create their own stories. In a move yet unprecedented in the series, both leaders and civilizations will now shift as the eras advance, forcing players to adapt to new bonuses, new civs, and new strategies as they progress through their own history. Among the revealed leaders, the Shawnee's chief, Tecumseh, was also highlighted.

After announcing their latest project, Civilization: Empires & Allies, a 4X mobile strategy game, much concern was directed towards 2K and its continued development for Civilization 7. An official statement from Firaxis has confirmed, however, that “As we announced earlier this year, Firaxis Games is in active development on the next iteration of the legendary Civilization franchise. We are working with an external partner specializing in mobile social strategy games to develop Civilization: Eras & Allies.”
