How to Get I Caught a Shooting Star Trophy/Achievement in Monster Hunter Wilds
In *Monster Hunter Wilds*, while many achievements focus on taking down the largest and most formidable creatures, there's a unique challenge in capturing one of the smallest: the Sandstar. If you're aiming to unlock the 'I Caught a Shooting Star!' trophy/achievement, here's a comprehensive guide to help you achieve this elusive goal.
How to Unlock 'I Caught a Shooting Star' Trophy/Achievement in Monster Hunter Wilds
The 'I Caught a Shooting Star!' hidden trophy/achievement is notable for its simplicity and elusiveness. It's easy to miss if you're not looking for it, as it requires you to capture a unique endemic life form known as the Sandstar in the **Windward Plains**. This small desert mouse-like creature, with its long tail and shimmering fur, can only be found at night in a specific area of the region.
Given that you typically explore the Windward Plains during the day throughout the story, you'll need to wait until nightfall. There are two ways to pass the time:
- **Fast Travel** – This method is available early in the game once you unlock multiple fast travel points in the Windward Plains. Use your interactive map to access the fast travel menu, and shuttle between points until the time shifts to night.
- **Rest** – After completing Chapter 3 and unlocking high-rank content, you can rest at a base or pop-up camp. Use your Guild Points to rest and choose the time of day (Morning, Daytime, Evening, or Nighttime) and environmental conditions (No Change, Fallow, Plenty, or Inclemency).
How to Catch Sandstar in Monster Hunter Wilds
The Sandstar is not only tiny but also incredibly fast, even when you're chasing it on your Seikret at full speed. To increase your chances of capturing it, consider gathering **Screamer Pods** from **Baunos**, small winged scavengers with red bodies found in Area 11 and Area 13 of the Windward Plains. These pods aren't mandatory, but they'll make the task much easier.
Once it's night in the Windward Plains, head to the midpoint between Area 11 and Area 13 and keep a keen eye out for the Sandstar. When you spot it, chase it at full speed and, if you have them, prepare your Screamer Pods. When you get close enough, **shoot a Screamer Pod to stun the Sandstar**. Immediately switch to your **Capture Net** (the same one used for fishing) and throw it at the stunned Sandstar to capture it. Upon successful capture, the 'I Caught a Shooting Star!' trophy/achievement will unlock, and you'll earn the **Ribbon Dream: Amber** nameplate for your Hunter Profile.
