Camper Awaits Switch 2 at San Francisco Nintendo Store Before Opening

by Madison Apr 19,2025

The Nintendo Store in San Francisco won't open its doors for another month, but it's already garnered attention with at least one dedicated camper waiting for the Nintendo Switch 2. YouTuber Super Cafe documented his journey in a video released on April 8, detailing his flight to San Francisco to camp out not only for the release of the Switch 2 but also for the store's grand opening on May 15.

Super Cafe, who traveled over 800 miles, plans to endure the next two months to be first in line on the West Coast. Reflecting on his decision, he admitted, "I've only lived in my apartment for two months. I like, just moved out. Terrible financial decision on my end. Whatever, who cares."

This move mirrors that of another YouTube content creator who's camping out at the New York store for the same console. Super Cafe, mostly going solo, even encouraged others interested in camping out for the San Francisco opening to reach out to him.

Regarding the practicalities of his extended stay, such as accommodations, food, and showers, Super Cafe promised to address these in a future Q&A.

The tradition of camping out for major Nintendo releases, particularly consoles, has a long history. Now, with dedicated campers at both coastal Nintendo stores, it remains to be seen if this will spark a chain reaction of others joining the lines. These creators certainly show unwavering dedication.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch on June 5, 2025. For those not willing to camp out, our guides on Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders provide useful information, though ongoing tariffs are complicating the situation for potential buyers in the United States.
