A Rough Start for "Borderlands"

The Eli Roth-directed adaptation currently boasts a dismal 6% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 49 critic reviews. Prominent critics haven't held back, with harsh words describing the film as "wacko BS" and lacking in humor. Early social media reactions echoed these sentiments, labeling the movie "lifeless," "terrible," and "uninspired." While a 49% audience score suggests some viewers enjoyed the action and humor, significant lore changes have been noted as potentially confusing for fans.

Uncredited Work Fuels Controversy

Adding to the negative press, freelance rigger Robbie Reid revealed on X (formerly Twitter) that he and the artist responsible for the Claptrap character were not credited in the film. Reid expressed disappointment, particularly given his consistent prior crediting in previous projects. He speculated that the omission might stem from him and the artist leaving their studio in 2021, highlighting a larger industry issue of inadequate artist crediting. He expressed hope that the situation could lead to positive changes within the industry.
