Balatro hit a huge sales milestone
The indie roguelike Balatro, a surprise hit of last year, continues its incredible success story. Developed by a single person, LocalThunk, the game has now sold over 5 million copies, a significant jump from the 3.5 million milestone celebrated just a month ago. This remarkable growth, adding 1.5 million sales in approximately 40 days, is likely attributed to the impact of The Game Awards, as hinted by the developer.
Playstack CEO, Harvey Elliott, praised this achievement as truly exceptional, highlighting the dedication of both LocalThunk and the publishing team. Even nearly a year post-release, Balatro remains popular, consistently receiving updates, featuring exciting collaborations, and recently achieving record concurrent player numbers on Steam. The card-based roguelike's enduring success is a testament to its captivating gameplay.
