Atelier Yumia: Memory Alchemist's Land Synthesis Guide
One of the most intricate features in *Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land* is the Synthesis mechanic, which is deeply integrated into the game's core. From resource collection to crafting weapons, everything revolves around it. Here's a comprehensive guide to mastering this essential system.
Synthesis Types in Atelier Yumia
In Atelier Yumia, there are three distinct types of Synthesis:
Regular Synthesis: Conducted at an Alchemist's altar, this is the primary method for crafting weapons, armor, battle accessories, magical items, and materials necessary for further Synthesis. Early in the game, you unlock the Atelier, allowing you to return and Synthesize at any time. In areas like cleared manabound zones and campsites, you can build a Simple Altar to perform regular Synthesis.
Simple Synthesis: Accessible through the radial menu outside of battle, this allows you to craft essential items like bandages, gauntlets for ziplines, and various repair kits for treasure chests, ladders, and more, provided you have the required resources.
Building Synthesis: Available in specific plots of land and accessed via the radial menu, this type is used to create storage chests and wall hangings. Although not labeled as Synthesis, the game's narrative often refers to it as such, so keep this in mind to avoid confusion.

How to Synthesize Equipment in Atelier Yumia
Regular Synthesis at altars is the most complex form and is crucial for crafting equipment like gun staves. Here's a step-by-step guide to Synthesizing a gun staff for Yumia:
- Find the Recipe: Explore the world to discover new recipes.
- Upgrade Recipes: Enhance existing gun staff recipes at a Recipe Recall Station using particles from mana fountains.
- At the Alchemist's Altar:
- Select the type of gun staff you want to craft.
- Choose Synthesis Skills if available from the skill tree.
- Select an initial Alchemy Core (Effects, Quality, or Trait).
- Fill the slots of each Alchemy Core with your collected resources.
- Collect mana fragments to further boost the item's quality.
- Synthesize the item once you're satisfied with your choices.
To craft powerful items early on, unlock Synthesis Skills from the skill tree as soon as possible. These skills provide significant boosts to damage and quality, and enable item duplication, conserving resources.
Enhance the item's quality by adding resources to all three Alchemy Cores. Use the left or right bumper to switch between cores while filling slots. Collecting mana fragments (yellow sparkles) for each core will significantly enhance the item's strength, which is advisable unless you're crafting a quest-specific item.
When choosing resources, prioritize those that match the element type of specific slots, identified by a blue outline. You can organize resources in the submenu to select higher-quality items first, though you might want to focus on effects instead.
If the detailed Synthesis process feels overwhelming, opt for the auto-Synthesis feature after selecting Synthesis Skills. The game will optimize the crafting process, enabling you to create formidable items and tackle the final boss on Normal difficulty with ease.
And that's all you need to know to leverage the Synthesis mechanic effectively in Atelier Yumia.
